I like the Samsung drive for my desktop. It's big, but matches my docking station and has LightScribe...

I have a slim Toshiba drive for portability, but I'm not sure if it can do restore...

Default I/O Magic
First I would like to say thanks to all that have added input to this thread & others in regards to how to boot from external cd-rom as without your discussion I would have not been able to restore my 390n. I bought a tablet (HP with Windows 7) on credit & intended to pay off the debt by selling the UX390n on EBay however I reformatted the HD using the internal back up & messed up the device, not sure why, its like its the wrong OS. Constant freezing (Momentarily), very slow etc. I wished I would have left it alone but too late & nothing wrong with the device just wanted it clear before selling. Anyways just wanted to add my external DVD to your list as tested for restoring the system. I did have to enable the external drive boot & clear the boot list to get it to work.
I/O Magic: TDU108-10, Its small & needs no power except the UX must be docked (at least to do the recovery).

Thanks again people, I almost listed this for half of what I wanted because of the problems I caused you guys helped me recover the value, from 300 back to 600. You guys are the best.
