hi guys, ive created an irc channel for general UMPC talk @ irc.p2p-irc.net - #umpc

drop by if you like, the more the merrier, was only created today so it will be a little bare for the time being, but please drop by.

Ah call me a noob, but I'm not sure how to connect. I'm using the mIRC client, but its not exactly noob friendly. What info do I put where to connect?

hi benz, the commend line to connect directly to the channel is as follows:

/server irc.p2p-irc.net j #umpc

if you type that in it should bring you to the network, and when connected should bring you to the channel.

if you need any more help, just ask

Is there a flash/online IRC client that I can use so I don't need to download a program?
I downloaded the HIRC client to my UX because MIRC apparently costs money, so I copy and paste the /server command you have me and get this -

** Connecting to irc.p2p-irc.net (0)
** Connection failed: Can't assign requested address
** Disconnected

lol you'd think I might be able to figure something out thats supposed to be simple, but apparently its not very noob friendly : P

im not farmiliar with that application, but by the looks of the error message you get, its a port connection, the default port for most networks is 6667, so try this....

/server irc.p2p-irc.net 6667

then wait til it connects, and type...

/j #umpc

(the above link will still require you to type "/j #umpc" once you are connected.
