Sweeeeet!:D
I noticed in the specs that you can run the card in IDE-mode, any chance that this allows you to boot from it?

The sata III card should be bootable- the seller's rep (pridopia-uk) states that it has its own bios. The Commell 3132 (& the 9125) load bios screens during POST & can be chain-booted. The 1061 won't load bios on the UX (their pcie ain't the same as other pcie's)- so bootmgr/ ntldr/ grub/ plop- no bootloader can see any drive on the card- until some kind of os is already running. Win7 installer can copy files onto the msata ssd, but it warns you that the drive can't be booted- so the install fails.
I've been trying to get a pinout diagram for the 1061 & the 3132 to compare what pins are same or different.

wow, did not know you could even boot off the pci-e connector! How many watts we talking here using pci-e sata and mini sata drive?
Guess if you take SSD out of the cases, you may be able to fit 2 SSD inside the ux? ie one on IDE and one of msata?

I haven't measured power used directly (it would be a bit of a hassle). As I posted here, #1, (towards the bottom)- the pcie can't boot directly, you can chainboot from the ide-zif drive, or even a usb drive. The sata controller has to have its own bios (commell-MPX3132) so that it is an active device when the boot loader looks for the os files.

ah do dual drives sounds like a distinct option then eh. Can you fit two drives in there?

All of the sata controller cards have two data ports, so if you tried you could fit two mSata ssd in the UX somewhere, in addition to the pata-ZIF drive. Now there are a few 256GB mSata out, so you could have up to 750GB of ssd( 2x 256 msata + 256 ZIF). squeeze in a usb flash drive & a total 1TB of storage is possible- pricy & impractical, but possible.

true so the count is increasing, 3 x SSD for ux. this definately would drain the battery fast, not to mention how to fit 3 SSD into th ux
