hey guys i might get a ux1xn this month i was thinking about ssd upgrades and i went on crucial.com and there was a 1.8" 256 gb ssd could that be put in the ux1xn and is there anyone i could send it to to get it modded i live in the uk

are you sure that it is the right drive? the ux takes ZIF PATA, most crucial drives are SATA

or you can mod it yourself.it's not that hard!...i will mode mine next year with a big drive aswell:D ..too bad i'm short on money atm.

I just checked the crucial site out of curiosity and this is what I found

oh okay thanks guys so do you have a link to the 126gb ssd and also do i have to perform any kind of suergery on my ux to get it in or can i just take out the old one and stick the new
one in its place ??

yea you just take out the old one and put in a new one, need to get acquainted with ZIF connectors

photofast?? i found a 1.8 zif pata 256gb ssd would that do and also what are zif connectors (yes i am a big n00b point and laugh if you must)

Photofast is the brand of SSD.

1.8 ZIF PATA drive will work, any capacity, 256gb is great

ZIF means Zero Insertion Force

a ZIF connector is a tiny latch that takes an FFC (Flat Flexible Cable) once you have the FFC aligned you just press the latch back down, it is not super hard they are just really delicate.

there was a good post about hard drive replacement a moth or two ago, in the post the disassembly manual was posted along with specific info about the ZIF connector. I don't have time to find the post right now, but I am sure if you do a serch for ZIF you'll find that post and many others with tons of info on subject
