Windows 7 --User reviews

Postby Charlesedwin » Mon Dec 14, 2009 13:04

Hello Everyone,

I have installed Windows 7 before 15 days and it's just amazing. Here I am sharing some experience of Windows 7.
Strengths:
So far it seems to be doing the business with the same speed as XP. Intuitive interface and navigation, uncluttered and easy to follow instructions and very nice to look at too!

Weaknesses:
Not found any yet.

Overall Evaluation:
So far so good, maybe the next worthy evolution of XP?

It seemed to me that apps were slower under w7 than under xp... did you make some comparison?

I was wondering, how much free space do you have available after installing win7? I remember my UX with 40GB HD had around 8GB after Vista was installed (and used for some time).

I'm currently using Ubuntu on mine but I'd like to try Win7!

Cryptonium,

Right now my Windows (7) folder + hibernation file + pagefile come to around 10GB total.

The main reason why the UX seems to have so little free space is because of the bloated trial software that comes pre-installed (Norton etc.) and also the hidden recovery partition which takes up about 8GB.

If you do install Win7, which I recommend, you should do a complete format of the HD and remove the hidden partition when you're at the start of the Win7 setup.

Yes definitely its better than XP and Vista also. Vista makes your system so much slow. But if you use Windows 7 its more powerful having nice looks and great speed of work.

do not deleat the partion.
the way i installed windows 7 is i restored from cd. removed the bloat from vista and installed win 7 over the top. that way unlike doing it manually i get to keep the touch launcher and there is no stuffing around with driver. afterwards you can deleat the portion and use a program make the c portion 40gb again

after doing it this way i will NEVER go back to installing manually.

To each their own. To me : Vista Recovery - decrapping - Win7 install - repartitioning : seems like a lot of work. I did a fresh format/ install with Gabe's v 1.2 driver pack & everything works (only minor glitches 'cuz I didn't read his directions); touch launcher / zoom/ both cameras. Unless you really wanted some of Sony's Vista apps to carry over, the "guarrenteed" functionality doesn't seem worth the effrt to me. What is your final installation size?o
