Thanks I will try Wicd.

This model I found one of the bests.
Hibernation and switching off works fine. on both ux and Kubuntu.
The only problem lately I have found it battery life. It is holding only approximately 45min. What is damm short.
So I think to buy new normal or extended battery.
I will mail the try on Wicd.

Nice tut. Only one thing remains on my ux to make me happy, the memory stick! The section -----
"you will need to update your driver and memorystick subsystem.

at a terminal type

Code:

svn co http://svn.berlios.de/svnroot/repos/tifmxx/trunk/driver/

then

Code:

cd driver

Code:

make

Code:

sudo make install

restart your UX".

this part fails at the sudo make install bit.

mkdir -p /lib/modules/2.6.22-14-generic
rm -f /lib/modules/2.6.22-14-generic/kernel/drivers/misc/tifm_core.ko
rm -f /lib/modules/2.6.22-14-generic/kernel/drivers/misc/tifm_7xx1.ko
rm -f /lib/modules/2.6.22-14-generic/kernel/drivers/mmc/tifm_sd.ko
install -c -m 644 tifm_core.ko tifm_7xx1.ko /lib/modules/2.6.22-14-generic/kernel/drivers/misc/
install: cannot stat `tifm_core.ko': No such file or directory
install: cannot stat `tifm_7xx1.ko': No such file or directory
make: *** [install] Error 1

any ideas folks?

*edit* fixed by manually copying the missing files from /lib/modules/2.6.22-14-generic/kernel/drivers/misc/tifm/ to /home/my-user/driver/ and ran sudo make install, now works a treat. :)

cheers,

Tin.

Install Ubuntu, and it works, mostly:
Memorystick: Works
Wireless: Found, but no GUI for setup (even though there should be)
Bluetooth: Works
Sound: Works
WWAN: found, but I do not have in enabled (no service)
Video: Works, but not sized correctly (This is teh first problem)
evtouch: Works (but does not match screen)

So the major issues are:
The Video displayed is far larger than the screen resolution, even though all screens are set to a max size in the xorg.conf (same as on the first page, but changed so each screen is maxed out at 1024x600).
The evtouch works, but the cursor and the location touched on teh screen do not match, in fact they are almost entirely, wrong, but I think this is do to the wrong Screen size being used and the fact that it is attempting to map the cursor to the entire screen because the upper left corner is right and as I move towards the bottom left it get more and more off.

UPDATE: The problem occurs when I have an external screen (which I often do upon boot), at this point it wants to clone the display, and it used the external size not the internal one.

In order to force it not to go into clone mode I tried enabling:
Screen 1 "External Screen" LeftOf "Internal Screen"
However this crashes X, Any ideas, does anyone have an X config that works, when plugged into another display as well as the internal one?

Hello! Thank you very much for the manual. but i have a problem, that my touch screen doesn't work after resuming (hibernation). I added lines to the 60-symlinks.rules file like you said, but it was empty, so my 60-symlinks.rules file now have only

#Touch Panel compatibility
SUBSYSTEMS=="input", KERNEL=="event*", ATTRS{name}=="GUNZE USB Touch Panel", SYMLINK+="input/gunze"

and nothing more. Maybe I should write like this?

# Compatibility symlinks for /dev/scd* devices
#Touch Panel compatibility
SUBSYSTEMS=="input", KERNEL=="event*", ATTRS{name}=="GUNZE USB Touch Panel", SYMLINK+="input/gunze"

I have Suse linux 10.3 but since it also has same KDE and X11 I think it doesn't matter. Thank you in advance for your help. =)))

diJenerate's xconf crashed my x windows so I had to use my own xconfig (which I posted in another thread) anyone else have this issue?

Also the Sony files for graphics, my graphics were perfect anyway but and I installed the sony stuff and no change at all.

I guess the wubi install of ubuntu feisty fawn does not have the following issues:
1) no graphics problem
2) no memory stick problem
3) no wifi problem

all works out of the box.

Can somebody share his 60-symlinks.rules file?

I still have the issue with the memory card... but apart from that...

i have found a fingerprint driver for linux which may work with the UX's reader... i'll update in the next day or so with results once i've tried it.

Also I can confirm the rear camera also works with linux... just need to work out how to switch between them. The way i did it was to boot vista, switch cameras, and reboot to ubuntu.. then it uses the rear camera instead.

Not sure if anyone is interested, but I have the fingerprint scanner workingish, but with errors so it's not actually useable. anyone who wants to assist, let me know and I will post details.

I have also got the extra buttons (zoom and the one on the left) workingish... again with problems... but if anyone would like to help work through the problems at the same time then I will post current details.

Otherwise I will post when I get stuff working properly.

I have fixed this: not really sure why, but re-installing linux-ubuntu-modules-*version* seems to work; as in I haven't had to recompile the drivers etc.
