Better Graphics Performance

The old integratedframebuffer is somewhat slower. Using the stock kext is a bit tricky but here is how..

Warning: It really is tricky! I dont take any responsibility..

You need an external monitor. Dock your ux, connect to the monitor. Make your external monitor primary. (go to preferences > displays > arrangement > drag the menu bar to external monitor.)

Now restore stock 10.6.2 kexts;

add device id from this to yours. (or just replace it)

Code: Select all

sudo su -

chmod -R 755 /Extra/
chown -R root:wheel /Extra/
chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions
chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions
rm -rf /System/Library/Caches/*
rm -rf /Library/Caches/*
kextcache -v 1 -t -m /Extra/Extensions.mkext /Extra/Extensions /System/Library/Extensions

restart your computer, you will get a scrambled screen on your ux.. download and run this app

select your ux screen from the list
go to custom
click + > Pixel clock 60
Horizontal 1024
Vertical 600

Click ok > apply > close it by pressing the red close button and hit save. Restart your ux and pray ;)

This is Not for the Faint of Heart!

but it jumped my xbench opengl score from 30 to 123 ;)

Thanks for your guide, confirms it works on 10.6.3

It took me a while to get the brightness working.

Will try this on my Vaio TX....

Interesting... however, I never applied the "modification" above and ran Xbench, just to see how my 10.6.3 compares, and got a score of 120 for openGL. Not bad for stock kext. :D

Just trying to understand a little more about Mac, and found this. Got 159 score for 10.6.6 stock kext, running from external HDD.
