First of all, the only way I can get it to boot is if I connect a USB keyboard (with built-in hub) to the UX, and connect the DVD drive to THAT. If I just connect the DVD drive directly to the UX, I get as far as the Apple logo and spinny thing and then all hard drive/DVD activity stops.
Anyway, with the keyboard in place, when I boot the disc, it goes through a long process of reading off the DVD while showing the Apple logo, then when it finally tries to change resolution to show the actual installer window, the display completely freaks out (see attached).
If I boot with the -v (verbose) option, it displays lots of console information that looks like a normal boot. But as soon as the window server launches, the resolution changes again, and I lose video.
And so far, I haven't been able to get further than that. So, how'd YOU do it?

I have the same problem as you. No matter how I try, I can not over pass the problem. Can anyone in the forum help me with the installation?
Hi Sev7en and lixao, can you give some advices?[/SIZE]
Many thanks.
Fixed the speakers issue on my ux280p, details here.

I was able to get a Jas 10.4.8 Image to boot from. For the most part it booted fine from the usb port directly off the UX. Keyboard and mouse where plugged into the base station. The reason I dinna use OSX on my UX is that too many drivers are missing [ like the Edge modem ].
Try a Jas 10.4.8 or Leo4all 10.5.2 image.

"HFS+ partition error"
Is there any way i can fix this?
Try downloading OSX86 tools from here. http://pcwizcomputer.com/osx86tools/
The install chameleon efi using the button that mentions "fdisk/startup" or some such. That should fix the boot.
