thickness is 8mm. but i read somewhere in the forum, it's ok with 8mm. SSD price drops will take some times, maybe 1 year later from now.

160gb should work fine, its just two of the new 80gb platters on top of each other. There is also now a 5mm 80gb, in the new classic. This allows for 80gb with no heat issues, but best of all price plummets in the old 8mm 80gbs. Keep your eyes peeled guys :D

Read this thread, anh's post (#7). A hdd that didn't come out of a pc/laptop might not work in a pc/laptop.

Two problems.

1) These larger drives are probably 4K sectors. If you look at the product page, Toshiba recommends them to NOT be used in PCs, but in USB drives and such. They are not "advanced format" and require a different boot process.

2) Apple iPod drives are locked to the iPod. The iPod on bootup will unlock the hard drive for normal use. You'll have to buy a PC drive, which costs more and probably only goes up to 120GB or so.
