Talk about the hardware components of the micro PC.

Just find Win7 driver packs in the software forum (I prefer Gabe's ver1.2) AND READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Camera & button problems can fixed/ avoided without too much fuss if you do what the readme file says.

A couple things to think about. Win7 is desighned to run on ssd. XP can run but requires some tweaks (partition alignment, periodic cleaning, etc.) Win7 uses more resources; booted & idling, my Win7 install has about 350-400 MB free ram. XP has 700 MB free.

Do SSD drives use the same formatting procedures as SATA drives, meaning if I was to get a full version of WIN 7 just let it format and install? Would it make any sense to relaod the original Sony drivers from Sony after Win 7 or just go to Gabe's 1.2 directly?

If you're using Win7 just delete all old partions & let the install disc create a new partition & format it- it will be fine.
Everyone has their own opinion, some people use Sony's drivers, some use Sull's driver pack (in the software forum as well). I used Gabe's pack (had a problem with camera switching operation & reread the instructions then fixed it). Some people have had no problems with any of the 3, some have had problems with all of them. Good luck

Yes, I installed two times win7 only with sony vsta drivers, and both get everything working by default...
It's far away better from vista, don't worry!

So...we need some good news from the main theme! Any updates on this project??? We belive in you, Ahn!

I am planing to stay with XP .. it's nice to have an XP computer to run some of my older programs like print shop and front page and some DOS programs I use for business.

So any news?? I have been saving up some extra cash for the 2Gig, the fast processor and the E169 conversion .. I'll get a 100Gig HDD , and 32 Gig mini SD when the time comes, (hopefully it's working!)

I also hope Anh will have enough time to for all the hardware work! :) he might have to raise prices for his extra effort!

So now for a long waiting of all our UXers, I actually don't have a good news.
I received 2 different type of memory chips and put them all in 2 UXs,
The little good thing is they both work, but with a bad news is both UXs only detect them as 1GB.
I am trying to find out what cause this problem, BIOS or Chipset since I understand chipset 945GMS only supports upto 1Gbit device at the time they released based on its datasheet.
However, I am not sure in the real world.
I also have a Linux running on them and get a report that the UX only allocates 512MB for each memory bank in the UX (RAM in UX is configured as 2 banks of 512MB).
