Good day all. I first have to say Thank You!! I have been reading post for the last 6hours trying to get a handle on the UX. I will be buying a 380N running Vista Business on 12/1/08 depending on responses. This is what I have gathered for optimal performance. Please let me know if it makes sense.
1. Reload XP on the unit
2. Replace hard drive with a 80g or 100g toshiba brand or an SSD drive (not sure)
3. Buy extended battery
4. Call Sony for Unlock code
5. Remove extra partition?
6. Use 8g or 16g memory stick to increase ram speed?
7. Buy a sprint U720 to obtain 3G speed
Thanks again!!:)

That is a given

Get an SSD, this is the one you want for the best size

or if you want the best performance look for an MTRON 32GB 1.8" ZIF drive on eBay
they go for $275 shipped

for sure

yes wipe it all out

you can only use readyboost with Vista, if you are running XP you don't have that feature,if using SSD there is no point because the page file will be faster than the memory stick

sure, why not
Furthermore send your computer off to Anh for a Core2Duo upgrade, you won't be disappointed.
Also for starters buy a 390N instead, it is all black (looks cooler) and it comes with SSD so even if you upgrade to can sell the SSD, a 1.8" HDD is pretty worthless

A page file is the exact same thing as ready boost. You can do it on XP, it's just he can use the SSD. If he does run out of space though, that's definitely an option (it will just be much slower).

I also think the silver looks better and would reflect light better (for maybe .01 degree in difference =Þ).

Sorry for confusion, yes it has been a long time since I posted that XD. I mean that it will be slower than using RAM, but because it is a SSD, the page file will still be very efficient compared to HDD. I say forget ready boost, use page files.
