So have we come to a consensus on which intel driver version is the best for wireless?

I have the latest and i too was getting periodic disconnects even when i was right next to the router and it was docked.

I checked the wireless event viewer and it says cta plugin not installed.

Anyone know what that is?

Just did a quick search on google and someone from notebook review suggested turning off the power saving option for the wireless in the device manager. I just did that so I will see how stable the connection is...

The other thing Im noticing is the range for finding a wireless signal is not always that strong. When im a little far from the router the ux doesnt pick up the signal. When i get closer it picks it up and the i can move further away.

Any thoughts?

last drivers from Intel's site didn't work so good for me... low signal and not connecting

the best drivers for my UX1XN are some downloaded from Sony's site for my girlfriends laptop which is a VGN-S5XP/B (UK site)...

either go to Sony site to download them or get them from my site below: (for XP)

the last drivers from Intel site show this:
25/05/07 -Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection:

But device manager shows on my UX1XN
28/05/07 Driver version

these drivers were downloaded from Sony site for a laptop model (UK site) and work better on my UX than the last ones from Intel...

I have to agree with the wild horses analogy ... I have just spent last night and most of today so far trying all the different configurations and drivers.

The new 11 version Intel driver is SUPER powerfull but has no control ... if you can get the horses on the right path it's great but they break thier legs or head off in the wrong direction all the time.

I had occasional disconection problems but I could only CONNECT 9 times out of ten and had to aproach within 2 meters of the wifi with the latest 11. driver to get it to hook up ... ONCE I GOT connected it was fine .. but at the coffee shop I could not get into the kitchen connect

Once I rolled back the driver to 10. and used Windows to hook up at the coffee shop I was OK .. but at home the connection was borderline again before

I eventualy ended up using the 10. driver but the connection softwear from Intel meant for the 11. driver.

A popup warns the 11. software is not compatible wih the 10. driver but in fact it works fine this is the best balance for me at this time anyway.

I have consistant connection with failrly good power in the house with my own wifi and it still works at the coffee shop as long as I am within 3 or 4 meters of the building (and everywhere inside the building)

I'm using the drivers on my uX280 and it really seems to stink. Slow and drops a lot connecting to a 4Wire router. Has everyone moved up to11.5.0.32 or should I think about downgrading?

I should also say I am using XP Pro, I have not installed any Wireless Application (Using Windows native handler because I was trying to avoid the one that came from Sony due to the Cingualr ties)

*Double Edit,
Just found out that Intel has a wireless app, trying that now. Will post my feedback later.

At Last!

Intel just released a new driver set for the Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG. It is version available from intel's download driver website. It's dated 3/4/09. I've downloaded and installed and it's working better than all previous versions.
