... We now have the ingredients for a proper successor in the form of the new intel core M processors. These badboys are dual core arealmost as good as last gen i5 4200u series, while using 3.5 to 6W, powerful gpu and chipset included (the ux is 5w just for cpu alone). The TDP is just where the atom is, but what a waste it would be to not run a proper os like they're doing with the atoms nowadays.
I think its too bright for them to miss it this time, with touch friendly UI-s like win 8.1 and 10, I think everything is aligned for us to get a high quality, long lasting next gen ~5.8-6.5 inch UMPC.

Sadly Sony is no longer in the PC business. You will have better luck trying to convince Lenovo or other Chinese / Korean companies to build it.

My UX last night had a little fit. Decided to suddenly power off, and would not repower on, even with mains attached. When I held the power switch on, the green light and battery light would flash quickly in succession with no screen, but would stop and just power off when I let go of the power button. I had to do invasive surgery to attempt to find out what was wrong. I suspect it may be the power board connector below the mini PCI slot. Once opened, I was able to power on the UX properly. After a bit of fiddling I think I managed to get the UX going fully assembled, but then as a safety measure I dismantled my UX again and replaced the power strip with a spare as when I go out of town, I cannot have the UX suddenly not work on me!

Wonder if any manufacturer will start to bring out microPCs again, with a physical thumbboard and an x86 processor! I just cannot get used to not having an x86 portable with me.

Apart from that mishap, my Anh modified UX is still going strong after over 3 years of hard usage.

Bigs, glad you were able to DIY it. Am still using mine. Will have to get a new battery soon though or try to replace the cells myself.

The time has not come for my UX and it is still going better than ever . My Anh modified u7700 UX is now 4 years old and the mainboard has not missed a beat. This message was composed and submitted to this forum using the Ux thumb board in the UX.
