A shame really since it is very capable of playing 1080p video, but there is no way of outputting it externally if need be. A wired network adapter can be handy for hotels that dont have wifi when traveling abroad, also excellent for diagnosing networks which I do frequently with the ux.

Also wold be interesting to hear if the unit gets hot, and also how does the fan noise when the cpu is worked hard

A hard wired network connection is also good for network installs

After playing with the Toshiba for a few days I have to say it is nice.Bigs you are right there are some gripes that I have with it. One no external way to out put to a tv or montior yet and no wired input. The unit does get a little hot and the fan run none stop. Ohh and the battery life is not that good.
Now the good about it. The screens both of them are great touch respones is good. Fast processor and cant go wrong with 2 gigs of ram. I am yet to test the video and the gaming power of the unit yet I will test it over this weekend and re post some more stuff.
Darkerx let me know how to run the test and I run it and post the scores.

Download crystalmark 2004r3:
http://crystalmark.info/software/CrystalMark/index-e.html

Install, then run benchmarks (avoid having other apps running...).

Those marks look almost identical to the UX with a Core2Duo mod.

I can't wait until they pack an i7 into a smaller form factor. My VAIO Z gets crazy good marks.

I forgot you oculd adapt usb to network, but then what happens if you need both network and hdmi at the same time, ie streaming hd video over lan or from a usb hard drive? Guss then you will need a usb hub as well.

Also wonder how the performance of an external usb video card would be vs internal one. Obviiously you wont be able to take advantage of the onboard HD acceleration, plus I have seem them advertised at max res 1600 x 1200 which is sub 1080p.

On my searches I came across and interesting product though

this would match well for cordless presentations from any micropc hehe

I've been looking at the Lenovo USB to DVI/VGA adaptor for my Laptop. I want to hook a second 1080P screen to it but the stupid laptop won't support HDMI + VGA at the same time. The laptop has the horsepower to drive a monitor on USB though, that is not a problem. I would have my concerns about DisplayLink on this Toshiba... it doesn't work all that well on my UX with U7600. The Toshiba is a little faster but not a lot.

here is the link for the Lenovo one I am looking at http://shop.lenovo.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/web/LenovoPortal/en_US/catalog.workflow:item.detail?GroupID=38&Code=45K5296¤t-category-id=F518DEACD67248538629B17343AFFB25
