So far performance has been ok. It's still running at 600Mhz but looking to overclock it soon. I got the guy in the shop to add an English language pack to it before buying but lots of it is still in japanese so I'm struggling with parts of it so far such as setting up the 3G connection. I've found where to put in my APN, username, etc but there's a drop down with loads of options I can't figure out yet but I'm sure playing around with eventually get me there. I've got a 16gb micro SD card that's working fine and the wifi is pretty good too.

Anyone got some specific software they want me to try?

mrmg, congratulations on your new phone. Could you check performance of the SSD with Crystal Disk Mark like it is done here, please? http://www.notebookcheck.net/uploads/pics/crystaldisk_31.gif Could you also check TrueCrypt performance, please? http://ostatic.com/files/images/xps_benchmark_core2-quad-q9450.png

blaster, been doing some reading and the unit requires more than 5-6v to run the windows os on external power. an external 5-6v pack may assist charging, but the rate of depletion is far greater. ie you may be lucky to get 30 mins more battery time in windows mode with ext battery pack 5-6v.

Thhe solution is to get an ext pack that provides 18-20v, but that puts you back into the ballpark on what the P series or UX uses lol.

Did not think the Intel Atom could work on such low voltages!

ah i see. so it cant charge or acsept more pwer than it takes. well at least you can have it sleep after 1 min and keep charging while its asleep. also bogs it should allways be 5v not 6 and its the miliamps that matter.

errr this thing i can guaranty is not 18 volts. you getting confused between voltage and wattage. also remember tha atom is powered off 1v~ and its a SUPER ulv of 1.3 watts which includes ram gpu north bridge ect ALL on one chip. thats like no power

what sort of battery has it got?
3.7 or 7.4?
how meany amps. what we can do is voltage x mah to get watts. tehn devide the watts by how meany hous he is actioly getting to see how much power it uses.

standard usb charges are like 5v x 400 mah = 2 watts low power (the phone should use about that much power by my estamate to run (not charge))

high powered usb is 5v x 700mah = 3.5w this should be just enough to power the phone and SLOWLY charge the battery

i found thoue testing that the iphone when you plug it in tests the output it can gram and charges at ether 400 or 700 mah (current meatier says thies values almost exactingly) and charges from there.

blaster, thats just from what i read at more mobiity. There is more than a CPU to power in the F-07c, scren, mainboard, plus gpu, ssd, ram, usb, etc. But as you said you need more watts as well as voltage to sustain the unit. Eg can your P series run on 5V ext poweer source with high watts?

Its like the UX has a 7.4v battery, but on external juice to maintain the unit one needs min 14v to run it, whist the battery is stil draining, but at a slower rate. 16v gives charge and full power to the UX.

On more mobiility they talk about how the dock the f07c goes into requires a higher voltage to run to use a extended use media device for eample use on a big external screen.

Your idea of a 5v external pack will just not do for using the f07c except for standby charging, or for charging when only the symban side is on.

my p runs on 10.5 BECAUSE its desined around a 7.4v battery. the phone is desined around a 3.7v battery. the ux is also a 7.4v battery but it runs on 16 cos all of sonys other 10.4v laptops use 16v

the power in has goit to do more with the say you desine the charging and power cuircuts

the phone should be 5v based but cos its such a low voltage when you run window mode the charging circuit cant let enough amps back into the unit from external power. the dock most likaly has a high voltage so that it doesnt need the amps to get the same amount of power into the une. odd yes but i guess you got to do what you got to do. also the dock might have a higher voltage for other reasons.

If you worry about the battery mugen is selling the extended battery 3200mah it is double than the standard one 1400mah for $135.00.
