I picked up an HTC surround yesterday because I just couldn't wait any longer. I really want a model with a keyboard but I have 30 days to take it back, hopefully the LG Quantum will ship on Monday but that is another story.
I am pretty impressed with Windows Phone 7, it works well, it is fast and easy to use. It is missing some features like tethering and cut & paste but I am sure those will come soon.

Still really liking the Surround but hating the lack of keyboard. If the LG quantum comes out tomorrow I am trading this in for that. After having phones with hardware keyboards for the pas six years it is very hare to go use the on screen keyboard now.

Seems like there are a pretty good amount of apps at launch. I've downloaded a couple dozen apps so far.

for me that would be a high priced import, I am not really willing to dump a ton of money into one of these first gen 7 Phones. I like HTC better than LG... but all the Windows Phone 7 devices are basically the same, just some have keyboards and some don't. I don't really care about HTC's little kickstand dohicky, what a crap feature. The HTC surround is targeted at the user who wants to watch videos I guess... but if I have a flat surface to put my phone down on why wouldn't I just put my laptop or UX down and watch something?
I need the keyboard and the LG Quantum can give it to me for the same price as the surround. All that needs to happen is for it to come out within 30 days of my purchase of the surround and I can pay $35 to trade it back. AT&T has a $35 restocking fee, that seems fair to me as I will have used the phone and they can't sell it new anymore.

So I returned my HTC Surround and got the LG Quantum, I just can't live without a keyboard.

Windows Phone features a new user interface, based upon Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 design system, codenamed Metro.[28] The home screen, called the "Start screen", is made up of "Live Tiles". Tiles are links to applications, features, functions and individual items (such as contacts, web pages, applications or media items).
